KARE has been providing a meals and home help service since the mid 1960s.

Volunteer drivers deliver meals 3 days a week to your home. These drivers give of their time, cars, and petrol free of charge. Without their generosity there would be no Meals on Wheels service. The HSE grant aids the Meals on Wheels service.

You will be required to pay a contribution towards the cost of your meal. Your contribution allows us to provide meals to as many people as possible. The driver will collect your contribution. If possible, please forward a cheque to KARE at the end of each month.

Your meals comply with environmental health requirements. Meals will not be left on your doorstep if you are not there to receive them. They must also be eaten on the day of delivery. Unfortunately we cannot cater for all individual tastes but we do accommodate some dietary requirements. e.g. Diabetics. Please contact us if you will not be at home to receive your meal. If you cannot do so please ask someone else to contact us. Messages may be left on our answering machine. Drivers will be worried and concerned about your safety if you do not answer the door. Drivers will usually contact KARE Social Services if they are concerned about your well-being. Public Health Nurses, family or police may be contacted in order to ascertain your whereabouts. This takes up valuable time and is unnecessary if a simple phone call would have alerted us to your absence.
